How Surf-Connect fees work

1. Fees by service

• Surf lessons: 11% of the lesson price, deducted from the instructor's payout.
• Photo sessions: 11% of the session price, deducted from the photographer's payout.
• Photo & video purchases: 11% of the purchase price, deducted from the photographer's payout.
• Equipment marketplace sales: 11% of the item price, deducted from the seller's payout — postage is passed on to the buyer in full.
• Surf-Connect Pro subscription: a recurring subscription priced and billed by Stripe — the amount and billing interval are shown before you confirm. On the website, the lesson booking button stays disabled for signed-in users without an active subscription; you can subscribe from the booking page, or from your Earnings page if you are a provider. The subscription is separate from — and in addition to — lesson prices and the service fees above.

2. Worked example

A lesson listed at €100.00: you pay €100.00. Surf-Connect keeps €11.00 (11%) and the instructor receives €89.00.

3. When providers get paid

Provider payouts are released via Stripe Connect after the payout eligibility window that applies to that service (lessons, photo sessions, media purchases and marketplace sales each have their own) and once the provider's Stripe Connect account is active. Payout timelines then follow Stripe's standard schedule — see section 4 of our Terms of Service.

4. Refunds

If a lesson booking is refunded, the amount appears in your cancellation e-mail and in your notifications. For marketplace, photo-session and gallery purchases the refund is returned by Stripe to your original payment method; Surf-Connect does not send a separate confirmation for those today.
